South Mains Training Course 27th-28th July
Eight trainees attended the course at South Mains farm. Dorothy Findlay branch contact for the weekend, reports ‘We had a superb weekend with enthusiastic trainees, a great build and great instructing from Jim Grant, as well as wonderful weather and hospitality from Kirsty and Daan. We couldn’t have asked for more.
And what did the trainees think? Here’s a comment from one of them:
I’ve been meaning to get in touch to say how much Ian and I enjoyed the 2 day course at South Mains last month. It was a wonderful weekend. Jim Grant is an excellent tutor and communicator. We learned a great deal from him and from Dorothy who helped to keep us right too.
It was very satisfying to be part of the team of friendly learners that helped to rebuild Daan and Kirsty's wall. It was looking so much better by the end of the course. Hope it's still standing!
Daan and Kirsty were such great hosts. We enjoyed tucking-in to the delicious home made soups and cakes they kindly provided. And, to crown everything, we were blessed with dry and sunny weather.
Since the course I have used my new skills to tentatively repair a very small section of an old wall in my sister's Aberdeenshire garden. It felt good to be able to do that. Hope it's still standing too!
With every good wish to you all for the continued success of DSWA.
Regards, Laura Baird.
