COMMITTEE MEMBERS
From professional wallers to passionate amateurs, our committee members may come from a variety of backgrounds, but they all share a passion for promoting and preserving the traditional craft of dry stone walling in Scotland.
If you would like to get in touch with any of our members, you can use our contact form or email directly on contact@csdswa.org.uk.
Trish Waite
Chair
Walling as a hobby came a bit late and I think I am too little (5ft 2ins), but I love it for the combination of a practical task in great locations, which is creative, inventive and shared with similar enthusiasts, both amateur and professional.
Ann Gammack
Committee Member
Ann joined CSB after a Beginners course at Huntingtower in 2004. A hobby waller, Ann most enjoys building or restoring plain farm dykes with stone of a manageable size. Ann joined the committee in 2015 and is currently the Training Coordinator. She is also interim website administrator.
Martin Tyler
Committee Member
Martin Tyler is a full-time professional waller undertaking all aspects of dry stone work and dry stone effect walling. He was one of the 2018/2019 DSWA bursary programme graduates and has already developed a very successful business. He was co-opted on to the committee in November, 2020.
Bill Thomson
Secretary
Bill has been walling since 2010. He enjoys being in the countryside, working with others to address the challenge of building a structure which is both useful and attractive, and the often humorous interaction with interesting people.
Robert Dunlop
Committee member
Robert has been a member since attending a Training Course in April 2018. He describes himself as an enthusiastic amateur, who considers walling a hobby. He enjoys building and repairing walls in different settings and learning about different styles and designs.
After taking part in several member events Robert felt he wanted to be more involved and joined the committee in October 2022.
Sandie Murphy
Treasurer
It’s not always easy to find a skilled Treasurer from among the dry stone wallers, so we were delighted when Sandie agreed to take on the role, for at least a short time.
Although not a dry stone waller herself, she appreciates the art. Sandie loves to travel, so the above photo seemed appropriate.
