Cluny Gardens Members’ Event 17th-18th August

This was to be Norman Haddow’s last day supervising members, since he is now retiring from walling. Also present were Jim G, Doug C, Richard P and Trish W. Barbara N joined us on the Sunday.

The problem with this boundary wall was created by 2 ever expanding sycamore trees and so we had 2 worksites- Norman’s gap and Jim’s corner. The gap had to be created to accommodate the trunk and it was bridged with help from the neighbouring farmer and heavy machinery, with a long stone lintel. A wire fence will be placed on the opposite side for stock proofing.

Meanwhile the crumbling corner was simply by-passed by building a curved section of wall, accommodating a water pipe to the neighbours pond.

We were looked after very well by Ginny, the neighbour, as her house was nearest the site . She might become a new member. The weather was kind, which was a bonus in this unsummery summer. Trish W
