Training Course at Merryhill 20th, 21st May

We welcomed 7 trainees to the first Merryhill training day. The group had travelled from as near as North Queensferry and Falkirk, further afield from Glasgow and Newtonhill and a couple who had made the lengthy journey from the Isle of Mull. Of those, a few were intending to tackle projects at home themselves.

Calum Williams was our instructor on the day. He explained basic principles and demonstrated the useful tools.

Everyone was keen to get started and soon the wall was stripped and ready for the rebuild.

The rain threatened but thankfully stayed off.

The pins and lines were drawn up and building progressed well through the morning.

After a leisurely lunch the wall had gained enough height for the through stones and was really taking shape by the end of Saturday.

With another dry day on Sunday the trainees continued the good work laying the course for the coping stones.

The wall looked great on completion. Thanks to Calum for his instruction, Kate, Robert and Elaine who were there to assist and of course the trainees for their excellent effort over the weekend.
