South Mains Trainees and Members' Practice 12th-13th August
Eight enthusiastic trainees some with projects in mind enrolled for the August Training course. Six came from various parts of Scotland and two young women friends came from the Cotswolds and Essex. One did have a Dundee connection!
Jim Grant was instructor for the weekend and under his tutelage the group were very focused and worked well. As a result the initial stretch of wall, was finished shortly after lunchtime. It was agreed to move to another section and test out the skills learnt earlier.
With wall No.1 complete the group set to work on wall No. 2..
As can be seen from the photos the weather was mixed and for a time rain jackets were being taken off and put back on regularly. Nearby a few members worked on another section of wall under the supervision of Neil Crocker. Participants included, Kate, Trish, Florence, Ann, Bob and Doug Unfortunately we did not quite finish this section and hope to go back soon to build the top layer and put on the copes. As is always the case, our hosts Daan and Kirsty provided excellent hospitality at coffee breaks and lunchtime. Their soups were especially delicious.
