Completing a basalt wall, Rosyth, Saturday 3rd September

This was a return to a previous project, our last visit being on a wet day in October 2021

There was quite a few metres for Kate Armstrong, Bill Thomson, Robert Dunlop, Andy Brown and Elaine Ross to complete.

The pins and lines were set up and work got under way.

Stone selection was a pleasant challenge with so many large and irregular stones available.

Undeterred by the somewhat awkward basalt, the group made good progress through the morning.

Rain threatened but went almost unnoticed as the dyke was levelled and ready for coping by lunch time.

We were joined for lunch by Iain and his wife who provided hearty home made soup. We sat in the garden of the house enjoying the soup, the company and a view to the Forth on a fairly calm day.

Back to work and with some very large copes to set, the hessian sack was the useful tool of the day.

After pinning, the finished wall looked great and brought a satisfying end to a good day building.

Thanks to all on the day.

We hope future projects can see us return again next year.
