Low Retaining Wall in Glenfarg 26 March, 2022

Three members under the guidance of professional Jim Grant, worked on a low wall at Glenfarg. This basically became a patch up job, the alternative being to discard all the mortar and poor stone and start afresh. This would have involved buying new stone – a big expense for a voluntary community group. As a result we were only there for one day rather than the anticipated two weekends.

The members tied up and rebuilt parts of the wall leaving the community group to ensure the top was mortared to stabilise it. We recommend that the moss be killed off using eco friendly materials. We also suggested that planters or items related to the railway line or Glenfarg village could be set on top.
