Central Scotland Branch AGM 6th November 2023

Kate Armstrong presided over the meeting, which was held in our favoured venue at Luncarty. Below are a few snippets from the meeting. A PDF of Kate’s report is attached. above.

Our membership at present stands at 59, with 10 new members. We’ve gained 7 new members this year, lost 6 others. We now have 7 members living in Aberdeenshire or Inverness-shire.

We’ve run 5 beginners’ training courses TCs, with a maximum of 8 per course and each staffed by a committee member and a professional instructor.

Martin Tyler, who is one of our instructors and a branch committee member is now the DSWA trustee for Scotland.

Our Secretary Dr Bob Pawson died unexpectedly, on 27th September last. Six CSB members attended his funeral in Perth. It was a large funeral, around 100 people attending. In his professional work as a GP he had attended outdoor and ambulance emergencies and served as a doctor onsite for Jim Clark style rallies. Bob loved outdoor activity. He was a good friend, and he loved his walling.

The following people were re-elected en bloc.

Trish Waite, Ann Gammack, Robert Dunlop, Martin Tyler and Sandie Murphy. Bill Thomson was nominated on to the committee. He was then elected as Secretary.  Trish Waite was elected as Chair and Sandie Murphy was elected as Treasurer.

Kate then presented the Loyalty Award to Bill Thomson for his commitment to the branch in recent years.

And finally, since this is Kate’s last years as Chair of the Branch she was presented with a gift of a bird bath and chocolates from the members. After 16 years service to CSB she certainly deserves as rest, although we will no doubt have to refer to her often for information on various aspects of branch work.
