Monachyle Mhor

We were pleased to receive an invite from the Monachyle Mhor hotel management in Balquidder to take part in a rural skills weekend on Saturday 30th March. Stephen Donne, professional waller, had agreed to demonstrate hedge laying and I agreed to take up the challenge of a wall demo.

The plan was somewhat vague but I was shown a possible site and a few rocks and so I got on with making a curved wall round the base of a large tree. Public involvement was limited for safety reasons and the lack of public! All was very leisurely in a beautiful setting in lovely weather and I was well looked after. I had to go back to finish, as the job was in need of more stone. The result was unorthodox but it seemed acceptable. People could see how it should be done from Stephen’s beautiful mini walls.
