Chairwoman's Report, September 2017
This year I’ve been very aware of how fortunate we are to live where we do. When setting the programme of events we aim to cover a range of locations and types of stone, as well as varied work in these beautiful and interesting places.Too many to list, but we’ve enjoyed fine trees, still and running water, stone in all its colours and qualities, wildlife and as always the company of community volunteers, people involved with other charities, landowners and you, our members. We’d welcome a few more committee members to set and run the programme in 2018. If you could help, we’d like to hear from you before the AGM in November. We need people ready to work as part of a small group which meets four times a year, comfortable using email, and, when familiar with how things work, willing to take charge of an event. Contact any committee member to find out more. Training has gone well this year so far, and we’re pleased to have Calum Williams as our latest-qualified instructor. Our most recent event at Blackruthven attracted 9 trainees with Calum assisting Gregor on the Saturday. Many of our programme events come from professional members’ recommendations. Calum and Willie have introduced us to work-ing in and around water, and we hope to run more such events next year. On the question of our legal status, it’s good to have had several members in contact asking questions and expressing opinions. Our AGM is always a sociable, cheerful occasion with a good lunch and we’ll be glad to see you there at Luncarty on 4th November.
